Personal Story of overcoming adversity, including lessons learned and character gained through the experience...
"Through sports I have overcome a lot of adversity. And I feel like with this adversity that is what makes competing the way it is. And I know is what builds success.

In order to overcome adversity and challenges this is what it takes: I have learned to control what you can control and to trust God with the rest, to be mindful in the moment and to love what I am doing now, that every event Good or bad is a learning opportunity and to be diligent at identifying what mistakes i've made and what I did well. Every experience is an opportunity to improve from. I have learned to listen to my body and train smarter than harder, to expect things will not always go my way and that overcoming challenges creates the best in us. and finally something I take for granted sometimes is to choose to be grateful everyday, and to know not everyone has the ability, luxury, and freedom to do sport. And to be sure to thank those around me for their help such as; parents, mentors, coaches, officials, and teachers."

Express what you hope to do with an opportunity to be a scholarship-student-athlete.  What you hope to give a team and accomplish in college as we'll as what you hope to do with your education and how that big step of completing a degree will lead toward your long term goals...
"My hopes and dreams are to go to the college level and to be a two-sport athlete, a football and track and field athlete. And to earn a full-scholarship to assist in my College endeavor. I have a sister who is currently in school and my parents have paid for her but it has put a lot of stress on my family. With all the student-loans to pay for her college tuition it really has driven me even more to not have my parents worry about expenses and to relieve that stress ... to pay my private school education and her College expenses.

Moving forward, if I was to play sports in college the most important thing is my school work. I am a STUDENT-athlete so that means my Education comes first and it always has. I have made a promise to myself and to my parents that sports won't get in the way of what's really important, my education.

In conclusion my long-term goals are to first, Major in Business and Minor in Political Science. And to go to Law-School after I have earned those degrees. And after completing law-shool to own a successful business. With these tools they would be a really big step in my future. But in order for ALL of this to happen I have to keep thanking and praying to God for all the opportunities and blessings he has given me and to stay humble through journey with a big smile...

Coach Hudgens bio and insights on Hayden Ashley...

"Working with Hayden Ashley has been one of the most humbling and "Personal Best" Expericnes.  Since he was in third grade we have had an on-going progression of coach-athlete rapport.  It's beyond my explanation but if I were to credit the journey's success it would be the following:  1.) Hayden has an inspiring passion for living life to the fullest.  2.) He is daily dedicated to pursue his very best and does everything with the utmost purpose of experiecing his potential.  3.) He is motivated by a pure desire to achieve his Personal Best, which simply gets better every season because he constantly raises the bar.  4.) His kinesthetic awarness and overall athleticism makes for an exciting adventure every time we apply the next phase of training.

Through his favorite event, the Decathlon he has developed his own mantra: "
PREPARE FOR THE FUTURE, LEARN FROM THE PAST, PERFORM IN THE PRESENT."  In sport ,which transcends into life, he is a living serenity prayer, making him a teammate and a leader on and off the field.  As coaches we long for student-athletes to simply respond to our educated guidence, for Hayden this flows smoothly and naturally to simply take the best practices and apply them immediately."
