Personal Story of overcoming adversity, including lessons learned and character gained through the experience...
At the 2025 regional track meet, I experienced one of the hardest moments of my athletic journey. I false started in my hurdle race and was immediately disqualified. Just like that, my opportunity to compete in that event at the state meet was gone. I had trained for months, visualized that moment countless times, and had every intention of advancing. But in a split second, everything changed. At first, I was devastated. It felt like I had let down my team, my coaches, and myself. But as I processed my emotions, I realized something important: sometimes, what feels like a setback is actually a setup.
At the state meet, it became clear that the hurdle race would have directly conflicted with the high jump event. Had I advanced in hurdles, I would have had to choose between the two or risk underperforming in both. Because I was disqualified, I was able to focus fully on high jump, and I ended up finishing as the state runner-up. That experience taught me a powerful lesson. God can take something that feels like failure and use it to redirect us toward something even greater. I learned to trust the process, even when it does not go according to my plan. I learned that disappointment does not define me. My response does.
Falling short that day did not weaken my character. It built it. It taught me humility, perseverance, and the importance of perspective. It reminded me that every detour has a purpose, and that sometimes, what seems like the end of the road is just the beginning of a better one.

Express what you hope to do with an opportunity to be a scholarship-student-athlete. What you hope to give a team and accomplish in college as we'll as what you hope to do with your education and how that big step of completing a degree will lead toward your long term life goals...
Being a scholarship student-athlete would be an incredible opportunity. Track and field has taught me discipline, resilience, and the value of hard work. I hope to bring that same mindset to a college team by supporting my teammates, staying focused, and competing with heart.
Academically, I plan to major in either biology or aerospace engineering. I have a strong interest in science and innovation, and I want to use my education to build a career that challenges me and allows me to contribute to something meaningful. Earning my degree will be an important step toward achieving my long-term goals.
I am excited for the chance to grow as both an athlete and a student, and I am committed to making the most of this opportunity in every way.

Coach Hudgens bio and insights on London Poindexter...
London Poindexter has bounce in her step and strength in her spirit. From first meeting London when she was in 6th Grade she confidently expressed that SHE IS A XC RUNNER. Since she had competed in XC for her school, experienced some success and leadership opportunties she committed to being better at XC. That's how she got connected with Personal Best Athletics, to work on her running efficacy. In the first few practices I saw much more in her and helped her see the gifts and talents she could express through the various event of Track and Field. It wasn't love at first sight, but eventually she found progression and a sense of purpose in pursing her best in the multi-events of Hurdles, Long Jump, and High Jump.
As most experience, London worked through the many obstacles in developing hurdle skills, long jump take off and landing, high jump approach to penultimate to take off and still figuring out flight phase over the bar. I can't help but mention the obstacles because the false starts, scratches, and landing on the bar all accumulate to the most transforamtional growth's I've been blessed to witness in her. The unwavering will to get back up and try again, the stubborn strength to persevere despite the dissappointment, and the maturity of toeing the line on the biggest stage with a clear sense of execution are all attributes London consistently expresses.
She is still young (2025 - 16years old), holistically she has physical, mental, and emotional growth that I pray suprises her with how big her jumps and fast her times are yet to be. Her technique in each of the seven heptathlon events are thankfully consistent but have great improvements to grow into. Her exceptional Sophomore year at Oklahoma State Championships, at Great Southwest Classic, and Nike Outdoor Nationals propelled her holistic growth .... and is a strong and physically explosive
